Based on the short film, Into the Silent Land, this is a promo for the feature film Late Splitters.
Late Splitters is a haunting psychological drama with elements of the supernatural about the connection between twins.
Rachel (our lead character) ‘’Everyone thinks that if you look the same, you are the same’’.
As a twin, I have always felt like I have two identities, one as me and another as a twin, part of a unit. With the latter mostly dominating your young life. I would like to explore this bond in a realistic character lead piece that allows room to explore the psychological aspects of the twin relationship, through the process of grief. The film also plays with the idea of the afterlife and this oneness reaching beyond the grave.
I have an art background (my first degree was in Fine Art and Related Arts) and an MA from Goldsmiths London in Drama Direction. My shorts have evolved after working with non-actors using improvisation to find the story and characters. I studied the Meisner technique of acting, which allows actors to put their focus on the each other leading to a less self-conscious performance. I would seek to work in this way on ‘Late Splitters.’
This film will utilise locations, such as the twins’ bunk beds against the vast wide-open spaces (lighthouse, fields, and marshlands) that reach into infinity but where there is nowhere to run.
